New Honda Civic coming in 2011 reviewed by AMICARS

As you may know already, Honda announced the new Civic Concept for 2011 Detroit Auto Show. According to the latest reports, the next-generation of the Honda Civic will be officially unveiled in 2010 and expected by the dealers in 2011.
Like the current version, the new vehicle will be available in two versions, with 3 or 5 doors. The new generation will use petrol and diesel engines but will also offer a hybrid version, powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine with 150 hp. Later, the Type-R version will come showing more than 200 hp.For those who don’t know, the current Honda Civic Hybrid is powered by a 1.3L i-VTEC 4-cylinder, mated to electric motors.
However, it appears that the next-generation will use the same hybrid powertrain found on the 2011 Honda CR-Z. The CR-Z uses a 1.5-liter i VTEC 4-cylinder engine which delivers 102 hp and an electric motor capable to deliver 20 hp.  The total output delivered by the car is 122 hp and 128 lb-ft. of torque at 1,000 to 1,500 rpm (123 lb-ft on CVT-equipped models).
The new Civic Hybrid could also be the first car in the Honda lineup to receive the rumored, next-generation lithium ion batteries. Sources confirmed the fact that Honda is currently working on new lithium ion batteries, but we will know for sure after the Japanese manufacturer will release some official details regarding the new car

Toyota going to launch its New Corolla Model in 2011 in India

Toyota planning to launch Corolla in India 2011. The refreshed Toyota Corolla is on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2010. It is the best selling compact car in the US market and the new refurbished model comes as a breather. The new model features new front and rear exterior styling, new interior design changes, Toyota Care complimentary maintenance plan, standard Smart Stop Technology, and two new colours.
The 2011 Toyota Corolla is available in three grades: the base-model Corolla, LE, and S. All come equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine producing 132 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 128 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. The 2011 Corolla continues to offer Toyota's Star Safety System™ standard, which includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist. It also features the standard Smart Stop Technology brake-override system.
The overall appearance of the new model is more fluid than its predecessor. The model has been currently introduced in the US market but looking at Toyota’s forceful strategy to mark a stronger presence in India, the model can be soon expected in the Indian market as well.

Tata Launch New Nano Diesel Car in August or September 2011 Source Amicars

Tata Nano will launch their famous Nano diesel engine car by August or September this year. It is most likely to be a worthy turnaround for this automobile maker, as in recent months their sales of Nano car have gone deep down in the charts.
Sudden price rise of various components of this car and various automobile safety problems is hassling Tata at the moment. But with diesel Nano, Tata motors tries to throw away all that.
One sales source said, "The diesel engine will be in the 600-700 cc range like the petrol version and could be priced at a slight premium over the current variants."
Diesel car will mostly be available for between 1.8-2.2 lakh rupees, even though Tata motors spokesperson isn’t telling that. This diesel Nano will be small and cheap, and will have a sub-1000 cc engine to it.
Don’t be turned off by this specification as the output and performance of this car will be 20-30% better than what is usual for that engine size.
The diesel Nano that was to be on roads just after the launch of petrol variant got delayed as Tata had to move the car's mother plant from Singur in West Bengal to Sanand in Gujarat.
This late launch is also on apt time, as there are no diesel models in the A (Maruti 800, Tata Nano) and A+ (Maruti Suzuki Alto) segments in India at present. With the diesel Nano car launch, Tata motors aims to fill that gap.

Tata going to launch new Chevrolet Spark 800 in 2011 Source by Amicars

The Tata Nano gets costlier and costlier with new features set to be added in the V2 model. The Maruti Alto gets cheaper and cheaper on account of depreciation of the plant that churns out Altos and the fact that Maruti, being Maruti can strangle it’s vendors into delivering cheaper parts. Yes, the Maruti Alto is a full decade old now. The Chevrolet Spark had to replace the Daewoo Matiz but Daewoo went under and the General rushed in the pick up the left overs, one of which was the Spark or the next generation Matiz.

An Indian launch followed and women were absolutely floored by the cutesy looks the Spark came with. And it isn’t the looks alone. This 999cc, four pot, petrol engined car drives as well as it looks and is a frugal customer too. General Motors India kept chopping the initial price and sweetened the deal further by doling out 3 year cash free maintenance schemes. Sales soared but never really tasted the kind of success the plain jane Alto has enjoyed and still enjoys for the better part of a decade now. Solution: Go easy on the engine I say.

The General has chopped on cylinder off the Spark to end up with a three pot 800cc petrol mill that promises to be cheaper to run and maintain while still remaining peppy enough for first time car buyers. All these measures long with some bare bones interiors will give GM India enough saving to price the 2011 Chevrolet Spark 800 at a price neck to neck with the Alto at around INR 2.7 Lakhs. This, we expect will result in folks buying the Nano thinking twice and as for the Alto buyers, they will continue to buy the Alto as the Alto has something no car at it’s price has, the Maruti badge on the bonnet.

Also it comes with an auto-locking hub lock system which means four-wheel drive excursions needn’t require anyone to get out of the car to manually lock the front hubs. The power is supplied through 16 inch tires with leaf springs at the rear.

21st December, 2010 - Mahindra and Mahindra just revealed the price of the much awaited off roader, Mahindra Thar. The BS IV complaint variant with the CRDe engine with 4WD will be available for a price tag of INR 5.99 lakh rupees (ex-showroom Delhi) whereas the BS III complaint 2WD version with the DI engine will be yours for a price of INR 4.47 lac (ex showroom-Jaipur). This masterpiece will be offered in four colors, Fiery Black, Toreador Red, Mist Silver and Rocky

Maruti Suzuki’s men were back in the form of the SX4 with a 1.6l engine powering the car with 101 horses. The SX4 design is suitable for Indian roads with its high ground clearance and 15-16 inch tyres. After the huge success of the diesel variants of the Swift and Dzire over their respective petrol versions, the company plans to roll out the SX4 diesel with the DDiS engine.

Suzuki SX4 was developed by Suzuki, however it is sold by Suzuki as well as Fiat (badged as Fiat Sedici). The SX4 is sold as a crossover in some of the European and North American car markets. The SX4 is sold in North American markets with AWD as a standard feature, whereas in the European it is optional. Also, the SX4 is offered with a 2.0-litre petrol engine in the North American markets.


The SX4 was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro's Italdesign studio. The Suzuki SX4 was initially introduced as a five-door hatchback which was marketed as a crossover. The sedan was unveiled at the 2007 New York Auto Show and was later on launched in Japan, India and a few East european countries. The "SX 4" term was used by American Motors (AMC) for a sporty liftback model.


After using the Fiat 1.3l multijet engine for its Swift and Swift Dzire, Maruti will continue to use the DDiS engines. In the European market, the SX4 is sold with 1.9-litre and 2.0-litre DDis engine options. We expect, Maruti to launch the SX4 diesel with a 1.6-litre DDis, and this should be Maruti's reply to the VW Vento diesel, which produces 105-bhp from a 1.6-litre oilburner. 


The SX4 diesel is the twin of its petrol variant. There is no difference between the two except for their hearts.

The main rivals of the SX4 will be its own petrol sibling, the Honda City, Fiat Linea, Ford Fiesta Hyundai Verna and the recently launched Volkswagen Vento. The SX4 has a huge plus with the Maruti brand having the largest after sales and service network and good ownership experience.

Honda going to launch new Honda Accord in 2011

Honda India will launch a minor facelifted Accord in next month. The 2011 Honda Accord’s exterior now features a new style for the front grille, front bumper and rear deck lid, along with a new wheel design. The climate control buttons are now positioned on the right side of the instrument cluster, closer to the driver and less frequently used buttons are shifted to the left side (a slight revamp of the center console). There will be no change in the engine specifications on the car and the same 2.4L and 3.5L petrol motors will continue to do duty on this Honda.

Erik Berkman, vice president of Corporate Planning and Logistics for American Honda Motor Co. said,”For 2011, the Honda Accord evolves again with sharpened styling inside and out, fuel economy gains and a broader application of popular features. The Honda Accord is designed to deliver a consistently rewarding ownership experience in the areas that matter most to sedan and coupe drivers.”

The EPA fuel economy of the vehicles has been drastically increased by 2 MPG in the city and 3 MPG ion the highway owing to the changes made to vehicle aerodynamics, engine friction and transmission gear ratios.

The new redesigned alloys give a better appearance and its radius will now fall between 16” – 17” inches. The car looks bolder now and makes its presence more renowned in the crowd and the credit solely goes to the upscale design with new 3 step front grille, front bumper and rear deck lid and features minor changes on the interior as well.

Tata going to launch New Model of Tata Safari 2011 Source by Amicars

New upcoming car launch 2011 in India

January 28th 2010 it is when India’s best selling car brand, Maruti Suzuki, will unveil it’s D segment contender in the form of the 2011 Suzuki Kizashi. Touted to be a budget challenger to the likes of the Mercedes Benz C Class and the Audi A4, the Kizashi has been designed to be a value for money luxury car offering that offers both power as well as superlative handling. The global model of the Kizashi comes with a 2.4 Liter inline four petrol engine good for about 180 horses.

This, allied to an All Wheel Drive option would just be what the doctor ordered in terms of a car that has enough go to match it’s show. Talking of which, the Kizashi comes loaded to the gills with safety and comfort features that rivals the best amongst the D segmenters.

Now, Maruti could pull off a coup by bringing in a 2 Liter, 150 Bhp petrol engine and assembling the Kizashi through CKD kits.If this does happen, expect the Kizashi to take on the likes of the Civics ad the Corolla Altis’ of the world with a killer price of under INR 15 Lakhs to boot. The other end of the spectrum, which involves the Kizashi being brought in as a CBU at a price upwards of INR 18 Lakhs is one which is pretty grim though

2011 Toyota Etios Liva Hatchback

12,000 bookings in just a few weeks of the Toyota Etios Sedan’s launch is a stark reminder of the immense trust that Indian car buyers have in Brand Toyota. With the commencement of the Etios Sedan’s production, it is time now for Toyota to focus on the next big thing for the Indian market, the Toyota Etios Liva Hatchback. Indians love their small cars and the Indian government does too. How then, can car manufacturers be left behind?

Toyota, though a late entrant to the premium hatchback market, is all set to make major inroads through it’s very first small car for India, the Toyota Etios Liva Hatchback. The light weight Etios Liva Hatchback will offer plenty of space and along with that some frugal performance through the 1.2 Liter, 70 Bhp Petrol engine.

While the quality levels of the Liva hatchback simply cannot match the extremely high standards Toyota traditionally has been delivering in it’s other cars, this is perhaps a sign of just-enough-engineering as opposed to the over engineering Toyota is famous for. While plenty of cost cutting is evident on the Liva Hatchback too, one can’t really complain as all this cost cutting has resulted in a brilliant price of INR 4.3 Lakhs. Meanwhile, a diesel engined variant might join sometime in late 2011 or 2012

The Maruti Suzuki SX4 has been in-the-coming for years now and finally production of the SX4 Diesel is set to commence as soon as the Maruti factory resumes production after it’s annual maintenance break. Powering the Maruti Suzuki SX4 Diesel will be the highly acclaimed, refined, powerful and frugal Fiat Multijet Diesel Engine in VGT guise. So, expect about 90 Bhp of power and 200 Nm of Torque to haul the SX4′s bulk around.

While the power and torque figures might not sound earth shattering, the 1248cc Multijet engine will ensure that the going will be rapid enough to keep all but the hard core performance hungry folks grinning. The other biggest bonus of this reliable engine is the brilliant fuel efficiency it delivers. We’re hoping that Maruti Suzuki rings in the new year with the facelift of the SX4, just like the one the Chinese Domestic Model of the SX4 has gotten itself very recently.

The facelift apart, the SX4 will remain a butch, big sedan with plenty of ground clearance that ensures that it can be driven hard on bad roads too. Meanwhile, the Maruti Suzuki SX4 Diesel is expected to come for about INR 7-7.5 Lakhs Ex Showroom and going by Maruti standards, expect some yawn inducing waiting periods given the fact that Maruti Diesel cars have always had very stiff demand.

2011 Maruti Suzuki Swift
Five years ago, the Maruti Suzuki Swift opened to almost no competition in it’s segment and it being an example of a punchy little car that could go around corners as well as it could go in the straight line, quickly earned itself a loyal fan base. The Fiat Multijet diesel version followed after a year and a half, and since then the Swift has consistently been the best seller in the Great Indian Hatchback Market.

This despite, a plethora of challengers, both home grown and foreign, that challenged the Swift for market supremacy, only to be beaten hollow. Only the Hyundai i10 could come close and while Hyundai had to launch constant refreshes to hold on, the Swift soldiered on gamely to sell half a million units in India alone. After half a decade, Maruti comes up with the Swift’s successor and lo and behold, we have another Swift.

The 2011 Swift that will debut in the second quarter of 2011, will be bigger than the older model and will perhaps have a few more features than the outgoing model. Other than this, the Swift remains like the Swift it has always been, fun to drive and fuel efficient. Add to this, bomb proof reliability and Maruti’s after sales service that is simply the best in the business, you’re simply looking at one more best seller.

2011 Renault Koleos Crossover

While the Renault Fluence Sedan will be launched in the first half of 2011, the Koleos Crossover will follow in the second half. The Crossover, that has been jointly developed by Nissan and Renault has been doing duty in the Korean market as the Renault Samsung QM5. While this Crossover hasn’t really set sales charts on fire in other global markets, for the Indian market though, Renault hopes to buck the trend with Koleos Crossover.

Targeted at the Honda CR-V and the Skoda Yeti crowd, this soft roader will arrive with a 2 Liter DCi engine(K9R) pumping out about 150 Bhp. Throw in a six speed manual or a CVT and an all wheel drive option into the equation, you have a nice soft roader that can tackle India’s moonscape like roads with aplomb.

We’re hoping that Renault gets the pricing right on this one and guns for the Yeti’s price rather than the CR-V’s. If that indeed happens, we could see plenty of Koleos’ on Indian roads. The deal breaker, at least for me, is the absolutely Fugly looks of the Koleos. But sometimes, Fugly sells in India and if the Koleos if priced at about INR 16 Lakhs, it could be the next big fugly best seller.

Skoda Launches Fabia Monte Carlo Models

Škoda's Fabia line is about to be extended with the introduction of the Monte Carlo, a new model with enhanced sports styling and bespoke interior. Launched to celebrate 100 years of the Monte Carlo Rally, and commemorate the 110 year anniversary of the brand's motorsport efforts, this special edition model is a nod towards Škoda's sporting pedigree.
From the outside, the Fabia Monte Carlo boasts a dynamic look, underlined by the introduction of piano-black body trim, which extend over the wheel arches and down the full length of the car, a black roof, black door mirror covers, a black radiator grille top, smoked headlamps and black 17" lightweight Trinity alloy wheels.
Inside the Fabia Monte Carlo, customers can choose between all black or, red and black sports seats which boast additional side support. Both versions come with black roof lining, a perforated leather steering wheel with red stitching, leather handbrake and gearstick gaiter with red stitching (with the red-black interior option). To complete the enhanced sporty appeal silver kick plates and steel pedals are fitted as standard.
The new Fabia Monte Carlo is set to make its first public appearance at Rallye Monte Carlo (19-22 January), where Škoda's current all-conquering IRC championship winning rally car, the Fabia S2000, finished fourth (in class) on its first outing at this legendary rally in 2009. In 2010, Škoda Motorsport finished second, third and fifth (in class) with Hänninen, Vouilloz and Kopecký, respectively.
Available as hatchback only, the car's trim is based on the current Fabia SE version, and the new Monte Carlo will be available with a wide range of engines.
