New Hot-Rod Chevy Spark EV Unveiled For SEMA Performance Show – Amicars

The annual SEMA show in Las Vegas isn't where you'd normally expect to find plug-in electric cars.

SEMA is the spiritual home of the automotive aftermarket, where car makers unveil lavishly customized vehicles to pique the creativity of the industry. 

These cars are usually more about performance and style than efficiency.

This year, the 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV Tech Performance concept will will make the show floor a little greener.
This version of the 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV electric car was designed to show that plug-in cars can be fun.

The Tech Performance concept features a new power-delivery algorithm that Chevy says enhances acceleration, and reinforced axles.

However, Chevy did not quote a faster 0 to 60 mph time than the stock Spark EV'S 7.6 seconds.
Even when this Spark EV is standing still, its green-and-white colour scheme and flashy wheels give it the look of a performance car.

The interior is livened up by a flip-up "activation switch," presumably for Spark EV owners who want to equip their cars with heat-seeking missiles.

Green cars are starting to get the full custom treatment; the Spark EV Tech Performance concept isn't the first small car to appear at SEMA--and it probably won't be the last.

When it's not sitting on the show floor, the Spark EV will return an EPA-rated 119 MPGe, with 82 miles of range.
The Spark EV has been on sale in California and Oregon since June, with a base price of $26,685 before the $7,500 Federal income-tax credit or other incentives.

Plans for retail sales in Canada and Europe were recently shelved.

Cadillac ATS-V Coupe-The spy photos you want to see – Amicars

Here is what we have all been waiting for since the ATS first hit the market: shots for the upcoming ATS-V coupe, a car that should do battle with the upcoming BMW M4.

Thanks to the speedy lenses of our spies, we have lot of shots to pour over. The car seems to be lower, and while the wheels are only test designs, they are shod in wider low-profile rubber and cover some pretty massive brake hardware. Out back we have what appear to be a small lip-spoiler under that camo, and four huge exhaust pipes.

The front of the car features a much larger grille, a lower chin spoiler, and what appear to be two smaller intakes. Don't be fooled by the Buick like grille design peeking out from the camouflage, our spies say GM has been fitting fake grilles to many of its prototypes lately.

Expect the new ATS-V to bow at the Detroit Auto Show with Cadillac's twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 under the hood. That same motor pumps our 410 horsepower in the XTS and should put up some great numbers in the lightweight ATS.
